You can pay for Word Press themes if there’s something out there that you really want and need, but overall most people just go with a free theme or they make their own themes, because they don’t want to pay for something on a blog that they’re just using to keep up with family and friends.
Even business blogs often just use the free Word Press themes. There are some out there that are really good, a few that aren’t so good, and some that are downright terrible. The key is to sort through them based on the criteria that you’re looking for and get the best one for you.
Obviously, it’s a huge pro that the theme is free. It’s also a huge pro that you’re still able to make some small changes to it and add plugins. If you want to and you can download as many of them as you want to in order to see which one looks the best on your site.
However, you can’t remove the links at the bottom saying who designed the theme, and your site really won’t be unique because anybody can use that theme. There are a lot of sites out there, too, and some of them just have bad themes. Try to stay away from those and only use a theme that is simple, classy, and easy to work with. It’ll keep your site looking great.
